PM’s taskforce calls for overhaul of energy regulation

The energy supply licence regime is “no longer fit for purpose” and the regulation of energy retailers should be based on their activities, a heavyweight group of Tory MPs has urged in a report commissioned by Boris Johnson. The Taskforce on Innovation, Growth and Regulatory Reform also stresses “fundamental reform” of the framework for the energy market is needed to deliver a smart grid.
