A two year contract to deliver public opinion tracking for the Smart Meter Central Delivery Body (SMCDB) has been awarded to consultancy firm Populus.
Four national opinion polls, with a sample size of 10,000, will be carried out throughout 2014-15 to help the SMCDB measure public perceptions and opinions of smart meters ahead of the mass rollout in 2015.
Around 50 million gas and electricity smart meters will be installed by the end of 2020.
SMCDB chief executive Sacha Deshmukh said: “Understanding what consumers think and knowing how to respond to their concerns is absolutely critical to the work of the SMCDB.”
