Twenty anti-fracking activists are blockading a drilling rig in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The members of campaign group Frack Off say they want to prevent the rig, which belongs to exploration company Cuadrilla, being moved from storage to a fracking site in Lancashire.
Four of the protesters have reportedly locked themselves by their necks to the gates of the storage facility, which is owned by PR Marriott.
The demonstrators oppose the use of hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking”, to exploit shale gas, due to environmental concerns.
Police said it was a peaceful protest and officers were monitoring the situation.
