Quarterly RO payments could have reduced mutualisation bill by 67%

More frequent payments into the Renewables Obligation (RO) scheme could have resulted in a reduction of £145 million to last year’s mutualisation bill, according to calculations by SSE. Nikki Flanders, the company's managing director, energy customer solutions, talked to Utility Week about the need for reform and her concerns about the debate around rising energy bills sparking resentment at spending on renewable generation.
