The Renewable Energy Association wants to bring community renewables under its wing.
CEO Gaynor Hartnell wants wants “householders, farmers, community developments, small, medium and large scale electricity users with onsite renewables installations” to sign up. The objective would be to co-ordinate groups and individuals – with for example, wind turbine installations, solar PV schemes, hydro power and biomass plants – and help them develop policy and campaigns.
Hartnell said the REA was not aiming to take control of any forum nor directly represent it. However, she said groups could use the REA’s facilities and back office functions “for a modest fee”.
