Rebate repayments could leave some renters out of pocket

Some tenants in private rented housing could end up out of pocket as a result of the government’s plans to ease the energy bills shock this winter, Alan Whitehead has warned. Speaking to Utility Week, Labour’s shadow energy minister described the £9.1 billion support package unveiled by the chancellor last week alongside Ofgem’s announcement of a £693 increase in the price cap as a “last minute effort that is not particularly well thought through”.
