Relying on a reformed Warm Home Discount (WHD) scheme to provide support to the most vulnerable consumers would “fall a long way short of a genuine social tariff scheme”, a new report has warned. The report by the Resolution Foundation thinktank explores some of the biggest issues facing consumers ahead of this winter. A separate report by Citizens Advice has also raised similar concerns about the lack of a social tariff, with the consumer charity expecting to help thousands more consumers this year than in 2022.
