Operating profit for the first quarter fell by 31 per cent to £244 million, Npower said today.
The firm cited decreasing margins in power generation and reduced energy consumption by residential customers as the main reason for the decrease. However, the company did gain more corporate and industrial customers in the UK.
Across the group, RWE’s operating profit fell 13.8 per cent to €2.44bn for the quarter. The firm blamed the German government’s decision to exit nuclear power but forecast a similar full year operating result to that of 2011.
