RWE has created a separate company to drive the international establishment of its Lemonbeat communication technology in the continued development of smart devices.
RWE said founding a separate company will enable the company to “effectively establish this standard internationally”.
The new comapany, called Lemonbeat GmbH, will be headed by Holger Wellner, previously head of product management at RWE Effizienz GmbH.
Wellner also previously managed the business area of home automation which is where the protocol was first developed.
RWE developed the communications protocol, launched last month, to solve the problem of a common language all devices using the “Internet of Things” can communicate by, speeding up product development in the process.
The aim of the new company will be to promote the standardisation of Lemonbeat, acquire new business partners and continue to develop a range of solutions for application.
The technology is currently only available in preconfigured chips and software licences.
