Scottish Power has announced a 5 per cent cut in gas prices as of 27 February.
The company, which was the first of the big six to announce double digit price rises last year (19 per cent for gas, 10 per cent for electricity as of 1 August), is the last of the big six to announce it will lower prices this year.
The company said around 1.4 million domestic gas customers would benefit from the price cut, which, if prices were not raised again for a year, would save the average customer around £36 a year.
