The chief executive of Scottish Power Energy Networks has stepped in to head the distribution system operator (DSO) committee of Eurelectric.
The networks company said in a statement that Frank Mitchell was appointed at the recent meeting of the pan-european electricity networks group’s board of directors in March.
Mitchell said that he is “grateful” and “delighted” to head up the committee which represents the interests of around 2,400 DSOs, operating 97 per cent of Europe’s power lines and cables.
“Along with the committee, I look forward to promoting the interests of the European power distribution business as we approach new challenges and record levels of investment in smart grids to support the growing decarbonisation of our energy mix,” Mitchell said.
Eurelectric secretary general Hans ten Berge added: “With so much going on at EU level, we look forward to Frank’s contribution in further strengthening our DSO representation towards EU policymakers, making sure that our sector’s views are heard loud and clear.”
