Scottish Power Renewables has signed a deal with Schneider Electric to provide energy management technology which will enable the utility to deliver 215MW of renewable energy.
Schneider Electric stopped short of disclosing the value of the two-year framework, but said it is worth “several million pounds”.
Under the contract Schneider will manufacture and install technology required for energy production, including a 33kV primary switchgear and containerised wind turbine generator integrated solutions.
Schneider Electric ‘s northern UK operations manager, John Patton said: “By engaging local suppliers where possible, we’ve been able to deliver a competitive deal to Scottish Power and reduce the carbon footprint involved in such a mammoth project.”
The deal will take the amount of energy being produced by the partnership to 1.2GW by the end of 2016.
Scottish Power Renewables were not immediately available to comment.
