Richard Ackroyd, chief executive of Scottish Water for almost five years, has died suddenly. He leaves a wife and two sons.
Ackroyd had joined the company from Yorkshire Water and guided it through what a spokesman described as its most successful period of growth and development. Scottish Water is on the shortlist for Utility of the Year at the Utility Industry Achievement Awards in December.
The executive leadership team and chair Ronnie Mercer are taking over the running of the firm with immediate effect.
Ackroyd told Utility Week about some of Scottish Water’s successes in July: http://bit.ly/Ss5gJe
