Scottish Water cuts £1m from annual IT bill

Scottish Water has cut £1 million per year from its operating costs after renegotiating and extending its IT services contract with Fujitsu.

The deal was originally signed in 2008 for Fujitsu to supply Scottish Water’s service desk, desk side support and infrastructure management services, and this has now been “reshaped” and extended by two years until the end of August 2018.

The Japanese technology company will provide support to more than 4,600 devices and manage day to day IT enquiries and technical issues.

Fujitsu will also manage more than 1,400 servers, 200 databases, and 20 storage area networks.

Scottish Water’s director of technology and information Mark Dickson said: “We are pleased to be continuing our partnership with Fujitsu and look forward to ensuring that technology enables Scottish Water to build on our improved performance for the benefit of customers.”
