Seven cities across England will receive a share of £12 million to help them introduce and test elements of the Green Deal.
Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield will each receive a share of the grant, which comes from the £200million Green Deal launch incentives fund.
The money will enable to cities to try out elements of the scheme, such as assessment and installation, and provide feedback.
Ed Davey said the plans were “really ambitious” and will help get the Green Deal “up and running”.
