A choir made up of Severn Trent Water employees has reached the finals of Gareth Malone's Sing While You Work competition.
The 30-strong ensemble performed If My Friends Could See Me Now from the musical Sweet Charity in the semi-final aired on BBC2 last night.
Singers drawn from all levels of the organisation, from boardroom to call centre, go head to head with two other workplace choirs in next week’s final. Manchester Airport’s entry was knocked out.
Liam McNamara, a meter reader from Coventry, said: “It felt so good to get through to the finals as we really didn’t think we had. Gareth Malone and our conductor, Lucy, worked us so hard and we were convinced we had let them down. But we did it! Roll on the final!”
The final is broadcast on BBC2 at 9pm next Thursday.
