Severn Trent has begun seeking supply chain partners specialising in nature-based solutions as part of its commitments to improving the water environment and reaching net zero.

The company launched a tender for a new environmental framework across its own and Hafren Dyfrdwy’s operational areas.

It wants to work with national or local organisations to support the design, build, operation and maintenance of capital assets.

The group is looking for specialists in wetlands and reedbeds, chemical reduction solutions as well as natural approaches to flood management.

Helen Miles, capital delivery and commercial director, described the tender as “unique” and wants to hear from innovative suppliers who will “think and do things differently”.

She said: “Working to improve our environment and mitigating climate change is paramount, so finding specialist suppliers who have the skills and expertise to help us reach our carbon, environmental and nature ambitions, is absolutely crucial.”

In March, SVT together with Anglian, made five pledges to improve water quality and biodiversity in rivers across their regions including increasing accessibility to designated bathing sites.
