Smart Metering Systems (SMS) has been appointed as a supplier of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions to the public sector.
The Glasgow-based energy services company has revealed it has become a supplier on the Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Solutions framework, providing public bodies access to products and services that encourage the establishment of EV charging infrastructure.
The CCS is an executive agency of the Cabinet Office which supports the public sector to achieve “maximum commercial value” when procuring common goods and services.
Under the scheme public bodies such as local authorities and hospitals will be able to procure a full end-to-end charging infrastructure solution from SMS.
The company will provide full funding options as well as hardware and accessories, installation and decommissioning, servicing and maintenance, as well as software and project management.
Craig Brock, commercial manager at SMS (Energy Services Division), said: “Public sector organisations, and local authorities in particular, will play a key role in Britain’s greater uptake of EVs over the coming years through the essential provision of public charge points and related infrastructure.
“We are proud to be included on the CCS’s new framework that will facilitate this much needed transition to low-carbon transport, and in turn contribute to the UK government’s net-zero emissions target by 2050.”
