A South East Water engineer is swapping jobs with an Australian wastewater manager to draw on that frequently drought-stricken country's experience in water efficiency.
Paul Hammond will also be looking for ideas on cutting carbon emissions from Melbourne-based South East Water Australia.
Hammond, who has worked for South East Water for six years, said: “I’m keen to see if there are lessons we can learn from our counterparts in Australia. We’ve experienced a year of contrasts weather wise, with the dry winter and wet summer, while Australia has suffered long periods of drought over the years.
“I hope I can bring back some ideas of new ways we can promote long-term water efficient behaviours and secure water supplies for the future.”
