Southern digitises sewer network

Southern has rolled out 22,000 monitors across its sewer network to detect faults before they cause blockages or pollution incidents in a move it is calling “revolutionary”. The digitisation is the first at scale in the UK and the data it gathers will be analysed by AI to indicate when flow levels are unusual, suggesting an obstruction in the pipe.
