Rental sector specialist targets multi-utility growth
Spark Energy has announced its acquisition of Sussex-based broadband firm, Home Telecom, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal is the company’s first since its management buyout in 2016, and will make them the UK’s first multi-utility company aimed specifically at the rental sector.
Spark chief executive Chris Gauld said: “With this acquisition, we are strengthening our offering, creating more reasons for customers to join and stay with Spark and adding further value to our letting agent, social housing, and property aggregator clients.”
Home Telecom supply fixed telephony, broadband and entertainment packages to the tenanted market. The acquisition will allow Spark Energy to provide services that are tailored for shorter durations, in line with tenancy agreements.
“Home Telecom is a perfect fit for us, creating the only genuine multi-utility company for tenant customers. With Fast Track connection, contracts tailored to lease lengths, exclusive Sky TV offers and competitive packages, we couldn’t be in a better position to continue our growth,” added Gauld.
The utility firm will continue to work with Global 4 Communications, which has been providing customer service and technical support to Home Telecom and specialise in the delivery of tailored telecoms solutions to the non-domestic market.
