SSE has agreed the sale of three consented wind farm developments in Scotland for an undisclosed sum to renewable energy developer Blue Energy.
Blue Energy has taken over ownership and responsibility for constructing the Cour, Blackcraig and Whiteside Hill wind farm developments with immediate effect. The projects will have a combined installed capacity of up to 98.7MW when constructed.
SSE’s managing director for wholesale Martin Pibworth said this latest sale represents the “next step in a programme of disposals to recycle capital and optimise our wind farm pipeline”.
Pibworth added: “The proceeds from the disposal of these three projects will help to support our future investments in new renewable energy assets.”
It follows the sale of Langhope Rig windfarm to GE Energy Financial Services by SSE in March and 25 per cent of Beatrice windfarm in November to Copenhagen infrastructure partners.
Responsibility for setting up and managing the community investment funds associated with each of the three projects has also been transferred to Blue Energy in the sale.
Blue Energy chief executive Chris Dean said: “This major strategic investment expands our UK wind farm portfolio to over 260 MW and emphasises our confidence in and commitment to the UK renewable energy sector.”
