SSE has signed a 10 year supply deal with Shell that will provide about five per cent of its annual gas requirements from 2015 onwards.
The gas, which will be linked to market prices, will be used for generation and to support business contracts, said SSE.
Alister Phillips-Davies, generation and supply director at the firm said the deal provided “an attractive pricing structure and minimal risk”.
