SSE has agreed a deal with Leeds City Council to improve the energy efficiency of homes in the local authority under the Energy Company Obligation (Eco).

The utility will work alongside the council, as well asdevelopers Keepmoat and Willmott Dixon, to offer householders energy efficiency upgrades under Eco.

These will include free boiler upgrades, free loft and cavity wall insulation for people on certain benefits, as well as free or “significantly discounted” improvements like external wall insulation.

Councillor Mark Dobson, Leeds City Council’s executive member for the environment, said the partnership will give residents “that extra little bit of help to cope with spiralling fuel bills”.

Charles Farley, SSE national development director, added: “We look forward to making peoples’ homes more energy efficient through this exciting project and will provide a complete service from our local Leeds office.”
