Tony Ballance, director of strategy and regulation for Severn Trent, will leave the water company in March to become chief regulation officer for the gas distribution network Cadent.
Since taking the position 15 years ago, Ballance has guided Severn Trent through three price reviews, most recently helping to secure fast-track status for its PR19 business plan. He will depart as the AMP6 cycle draws to a close.
Liv Garfield, chief executive at Severn Trent, said: “Tony’s done an absolutely brilliant job while at Severn Trent and we can’t thank him enough for all of his tireless hard work, especially with helping secure us fast-track status. We’ll miss him terribly and wish him well with his new role.”
Cadent’s chief executive Steve Fraser added: “During this time of transformation and change not only for Cadent but also for the energy industry, Tony’s experience and leadership will prove invaluable in driving us forward through regulatory periods and for the benefit of our customers.”
