Severn Trent has named Shane Anderson as its new director of strategy and regulation.

Anderson has worked as SVT’s head of economic regulation for the past five years.

He will replace Tony Ballance who will leave SVT for Cadent next month after 15 years with the company.

Severn Trent chief executive Liv Garfield said: “We had a really incredible response to our search for a new director, with some impressive candidates from outside the business, but it’s really wonderful to be able to appoint another one of our own to such an important role, and Shane really was head and shoulders above the field.

“He was really instrumental in piloting us through the PR19 process, getting us that fast-track status for the very first time, and his passion for all things Severn Trent really shone through the whole process.”

Anderson previously worked at Ofwat, NERA Economic Consulting and in the Australian banking sector.

He said: “I’m looking forward to thinking about the long-term future of the business, not just PR24 but over the course of next 20 years, where AMP8’s just a stepping stone.”
