An influential thinktank has urged the government to free up cash for electric vehicle charging infrastructure by forcing auto-manufacturers to increase the share of such vehicles in their sales mix via a “California-style” mandate. Policy Exchange said the requirement should replace the current subsidies which it warned will become increasingly expensive over time.
