UK Power Networks names new director of strategy

UK Power Networks has named Suleman Alli as its new director of strategy and regulation.

Alli is joining the company from consultancy firm Accenture where he was managing director leading the company’s utility network operations practise in the UK.

Alli said on his appointment that he was joining the company at a “time of huge industry and external change”.

One of Alli’s main priorities in the role will be to introduce digital services for customers applying for new or altered electricity connections.

Alli said: “Looking outside our sector for innovation is critical. Our customers don’t compare our service to other utilities; they compare it to the best service they experience. By 2030, our industry will look very different to today. We have to tackle the challenges of delivering a low carbon, sustainable energy sector. We are focused on that.”

Alli succeeds Ben Wilson who recently took up a new role as chief executive officer with Australian Gas Networks Limited.
