UKPN chief executive Basil Scarsella is set to be the only DNO representative at the first hearing of a parliamentary inquiry into network costs, Utility Week understands.
Scarsella is set to appear alongside British Gas, which made headlines with its written submission to the inquiry in May, calling for Ofgem to slice £500m off network costs in the 2015-23 price cycle, next Tuesday July 1.
Citizens Advice will appear in the same session, the committee is set to announce on Thursday.
RES, First Utility and Haven Power will be called to the second session on the same day. In a late written submission to the inquiry, Haven Power blamed complex and volatile network charges for holding back competition in the non-domestic supply market.
The inquiry’s second day, originally scheduled for July 15th, could be delayed until after the summer recess as the committee has a number of ongoing inquiries.
