Utilita cuts gas prices by 3.5 per cent

Utilita Energy will cut its gas prices by 3.54 per cent in January.

This is Utilita’s third cut since the start of the year making the total average reduction of 9.51 per cent or nearly £63 since January 2015.

These cuts mean that Utilita is cheaper for prepay smart meter customers than the big six, according to Utilita Energy chief executive, Bill Bullen.

Bullen said: “Our Price Commitment is incredibly important to us; since 2008 we have been committed to doing our best to ensure our prices remain cheaper than the Big Six for pre-payment customers – because heat and light are a necessity, not a luxury.

“Our customers are entitled to this further cut quite simply because wholesale oil markets continue to fall – our view is if we pay less, we’ll always aim to ensure our customers pay less too.”

The latest gas price cuts are expected to benefit more than a quarter of a million households across the UK.
