Utility Week Awards finalists revealed

The companies in the running for the 2022 Utility Week Awards have been unveiled.

The winners of the 13 categories will be revealed at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 6 December, including the coveted Utility of the Year. This category will see National Grid Electricity Distribution (formerly Western Power Distribution), Octopus Energy, SP Energy Networks, UK Power Networks, Utilita and Wave Energy in competition.

Our expert panel of judges were tasked with picking shortlists from a bumper crop of entries this year, with strong competition across the categories.

In recognition of utilities’ dedication to help customers struggling with their bills, this year’s awards includes a new cost of living category. This recognises the contribution of utilities that have gone above and beyond their statutory duties to prevent or mitigate hardship for customers in the current cost of living crisis.

Utility Week will also be partnering with National Energy Action and the Fuel Bank Foundation around the awards to raise funds and awareness around tackling fuel poverty.

Utility Week editor James Wallin said: “In a period of uncertainty and disruption, teams and individuals across the utilities sector have been tireless in their devotion to supporting customers, progressing net zero and safeguarding resilience.

“It was evident from the submissions that the challenges facing consumers this winter and beyond are foremost in the mind of utilities. It will also be a key focus for this year’s awards ceremony and we are delighted to partner with NEA and Fuel Bank Foundation to help them make a difference for those in, or at risk of, fuel poverty.”
