Smart technologies must be embedded into the network to enable water companies to understand what is happening to water once it leaves the treatment works, says Sutton and East Surrey Water’s innovation manager Jeremy Heath.
“You look at a treatment works and we know everything about that water up until it leaves the works… then it leaves the works, and suddenly we are in a black hole of what is going on,” Heath said at Utility Week Live last month.
He added: “Smart technologies embedded into the network can tell us about problems before the customer becomes aware.”
Technology also provides more data about waste, potential leaks, offer solutions and save time and delegates at Utility Week Live 2016 explain how.
