Water sector urged to prepare for challenge of hot summers

The water industry is exposed to increased maintenance challenges as increasingly hot summers are feared to become normal, a sector expert has warned. Although well-versed in dealing with freeze-thaw bursts, the sector and its infrastructure are more vulnerable to extended hot periods. SES Water went live with its smart network last year and reported overwhelming success at detecting faults and leaks in its region thanks to the technology.
