Water UK fights for nature-based solutions

Trade body Water UK has called on the government to revise its proposed amendments to the Levelling Up Bill, which could see catchment schemes and nature-based solutions overlooked in favour of grey engineering options at wastewater treatment plants. The amendment was written to control nutrient pollution by treating nutrients at sewage plants but the water industry has argued that work within catchments would have multiple added benefits while achieving the same end goal - healthier rivers and streams.
