Weekend press: South West accused of failing to be honest over drought projections

In our latest round-up of the weekend’s national news coverage, South West Water has been criticised by the Environment Agency for not being “honest, open and transparent with regulators about their drought projections and potential risks to security of supply” in the summer of 2022. Elsewhere, the Environment Agency is facing allegations of neglect of the River Wye over effluent and contaminated waters at free-range egg farms flowing directly into watercourses and it is revealed that Britain’s gas network is still using engines from 1960s RAF fighter jets.
