The chairman of Welsh Water is stepping down for six months, the water company has announced.
Bob Ayling, who was appointed as chairman in July 2010, will attend to his wife while she undergoes treatment for a serious illness. Ayling plans to return on 1 November.
The water firm said senior independent director, John Bryant, will takeover as chairman during Ayling’s leave of absence.
The board said it wished Ayling’s wife a speedy and full recovery and looked forward to Bob’s return before the end of the year.
