Welsh Water names new customer challenge group chair

Welsh Water has appointed Peter Davies as chairman of its customer challenge group (CCG) from 1 February 2016.

Davies has been appointed on a five-year term, succeeding current chair Diane McCrea.

He was previously commissioner for Sustainable Futures in Wales, an independent public appointment to provide the Welsh government with support to promote sustainable development.

Welsh Water chief executive Chris Jones said: “We welcome Peter’s appointment as the chair of our customer challenge group as it plays a key role in our continued commitment to earn the trust of our customers by meeting their expectations and delivering industry-leading levels of service. We look forward to working with Peter as he takes on this key role from Diane.”

Peter Davies said: “I have had close links with Welsh Water in my time as commissioner for Sustainable Futures. It is a flagship business for Wales managing a vital natural resource for the benefit of our communities, economy and environment.

“Its future success will be dependent on the active involvement of its customers. I look forward to working with the customer challenge group to provide independent advice, challenge and review to ensure the customer voice is core to the company’s future plans.”

Welsh Water established its CCG in 2013 to advise the company on customer engagement as it developed its £1.7 billion business plan for 2015-2020.

It is independently chaired and includes domestic and business customer representatives, local authorities, environmental groups, regulators and other key stakeholders.
