Glas Cymru Holdings Cyf, the not-for-profit owner of Welsh Water, is seeking new members to perform a “vital scrutiny and governance role”.
The independent member selection panel, chaired by former House of Commons and National Assembly clerk Paul Silk, wants to appoint members with a diverse range of ages, skills, background and experience.
Glas Cymru chairman Alastair Lyons, said: “Our members play an essential role in helping ensure that the needs of our customers are central to all decisions that we take and that we continue to deliver high quality services at an affordable price for customers.
“We are keen to hear from people right across our operating area in Wales and Hereford who will bring a broad range of knowledge and skills to the role, and particularly from West and Mid Wales as we are currently under-represented in those areas.
“The success of our unique business model, which includes record levels of investment for customers, is in part due to the careful scrutiny of our board of directors by our members.
“Members have a reputation for providing effective challenge and scrutiny of the business and we are keen to recruit new members with a passion and desire to sustain this and ensure we continue to work to earn the trust of our customers every day.”
The company recruits members regularly to oversee Welsh Water’s performance and ensure it delivers the highest levels of customer service at the lowest possible cost to customers.
Members carry out a similar governance role to shareholders in other companies. They hold the board of directors to account but do not receive payment or dividends, Welsh Water said.
They are tasked with ensuring high standards of corporate governance are adhered to.
