Wessex Water has launched an environmental grant scheme to support water saving projects in its region.
Sustainable Watermarks has been launched to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wessex’s Watermark award scheme which provides grants from £150 to £1,500 to groups involved in environmental projects. The new scheme will provide grants of up to £2,000.
Wessex Water said the grants could go towards projects to install water saving devices for kitchens and toilets in schools, churches or other community buildings or rain water harvesting at community buildings, allotments or other centres.
Recycling grey water for gardens and allotments, promoting water saving behaviour through drama or art, creating a dry garden, or using any other technical innovation to save water will also be considered for the scheme.
Marilyn Smith, head of public relations, Wessex Water said: “We are pleased to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of our Watermark award scheme. Hundreds of projects across our region have benefited from the grants and it is great to see so many people so enthusiastic about looking after the environment.
“We hope the celebratory Sustainable Watermarks will attract applications from across our region and encourage people to think more carefully about the water they are using and how they could be saving more.”
