Four wind turbines are to be built at a Wessex Water sewage works in Bristol by the end of the year, it has been announced.

Repower UK, a subsidiary of wind turbine supplier Suzlon Group, will provide four turbines for the 8.2MW windfarm at Avonmouth. The windfarm, which is being developed by Triodos Renewables and Geneco, Wessex Water’s waste-to-energy sister company, is expected to generate power for around 5,000 homes.

Construction is expected to start in the summer and should be completed by the end of the year.

Repower UK has also announced that it will supply wind turbines for a new windfarm at Wear Point in Pembrokeshire, South Wales.
