Consumer group Which? has announced that Alex Neill will take on the role of executive director following the resignation of Richard Lloyd.
Neill joined Which? in 2008 and is responsible for policy, consumer campaigns and group communications, including being the lead spokesperson for high profile campaigns and consumer issues.
Lloyd’s last day will be today (20 May) after five years in post.
Since joining the organisation in 2011, Lloyd has been involved in a series of investigations into the energy market, including the recent Competition and Market Authority (CMA) probe.
In an interview with Utility Week, he said that his only regret is that too much time was spent “arguing about whether there is a problem and not enough time hammering out solutions”, adding that the industry is still a mess but that he hopes it has reached a “transformative tipping point”.
