Water companies that accepted their final determinations from Ofwat have nevertheless criticised the regulator’s approach in a series of submissions to the CMA. Southern, Wessex and Welsh Water were among those to accuse Ofwat of using “leaps of faith” rather than evidence-based judgements and requiring levels of efficiency “beyond what is reasonably achievable”.
