A fresh record for the average amount of electricity generated by wind farms over one day was set on Sunday at 7.315GW, surpassing the previous record of 7.234GW, official National Grid figures show.
The data shows wind power contributed 20 per cent to the energy generation mix, which falls short of the 24 per cent record share of generation seen in October this year.
On Sunday, wind was in line with nuclear output, which contributed 21 per cent to the energy mix, and provided more than gas-fired power which was at 17 per cent.
However, coal provided the largest contribution to the energy mix at 31 per cent.
