The Woodland Trust has announced its entrance onto the energy retail market with two tariffs.
The charity is working in partnership with Ovo Energy and will offer a 100 per cent renewable tariff, the Green Energy Plan, and a 15 per cent renewable tariff – the New Energy Plan.
For every new customer signing up to the energy tariffs, the Woodland Trust will receive around 2.5 per cent of the annual bill (around £30).
Stephen Fitzpatrick, managing director at Ovo Energy said he was “really proud” the Woodland Trust chose Ovo as their energy partner.
He added: “Given the important relationship between energy and the environment, we feel this is a fitting partnership that we’re extremely excited about.”
Karl Mitchell, director of fundraising at the Woodland Trust said their partnership with Ovo will “offer consumers a fresh energy deal”.
Mitchell added: “By offering our own green energy products, not only will our customers be helping reduce the UK’s carbon footprint but they’ll be saving more than just money by supporting us to plant trees in the UK and protect our countryside and the wildlife it supports.”
