WPD launches power cut app to improve service

Distribution network operator Western Power Distribution (WPD) has launched an app to allow customers to report a power cut and receive up-to-date information on faults.

The company said it is “committed to providing the best possible service” and is the only DNO with an app of this nature.

The free Power Cut Reporter app provides customers with live contact with the company’s helpdesk 24/7, allows them to pinpoint fault locations, gives access to general advice for power cuts and archives past and current reports for future reference.

WPD also said that the app’s ability to store multiple postcodes allows business owners with multiple sites to monitor each location.

WPD’s corporate communication manager said: “We hope [customers] will find our new mobile app a useful addition to the range of resources that are currently available.”
