A virtual hub to co-ordinate testing and demonstration of new technologies has been proposed by research consultancy WRc to speed up innovation in the sector.
Under the plans, a National Innovation Accelerator for Water would independently help suppliers to access existing test facilities and develop business cases for their products. It would also oversee tests to make sure the results were robust and transferrable.
WRc is consulting on the idea and inviting views on a number of funding options. The project could be funded by suppliers, water companies or government through various routes.
The consultation runs until 12 October and WRc is to present a detailed business case in April or May. Read the full document here.
