Yorkshire fined for sewage spill

Yorkshire Water has been fined for a pollution incident in 2017 that caused the deaths of hundreds of fish in a waterway close to Bradford. A pumping station malfunction was not raised by the telemetry system, which meant the discharge was undetected for four days. The Environment Agency said Yorkshire reacted quickly when it became aware of the problem and upgraded equipment to protect the area.
